Sharing your life with another person means going on a shared journey full of twists and turns, through good times and bad. Whether you have been married for 1 year or 50 years, celebrating your love with family and friends can be therapeutic, providing renewal and affirmation of your love.

Your relationship may have evolved since you first made your vows, you may wish to create new vows that represent this stage in your lives or you may wish to renew your original ones that seem as relevant as ever. You may have got married at a time where a big celebration was impossible and want a ‘do over’ to get the celebration you desired. Whatever the circumstances I can tailor a vow renewal that is right for you.
“We had roots that grew towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossom had fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two.”
Louis de Bernières, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin
A vow renewal can take many forms. It may be a small intimate occasion with close family in your home or it can be a wedding like extravaganza in a Scottish castle that can compete with a royal wedding. Together we will develop a ceremony that is right for you.
The Process
Your vow renewal will be entirely unique to you and this will take some planning. Below is a general schedule from now up until your big day:
- A short, free, no obligation meeting on zoom where we get to know a bit about each other. You can share your ‘big picture’ of the renewal and ask me any questions you have about the process ahead. Based on this meeting I will provide you with a price estimate.
- If you feel we are a good fit I will send you a couple’s questionnaire for you to fill out together. This will hopefully get you thinking, get you giggling and get you reminiscing. You will return the questionnaire with a non-refundable 50% deposit.
- After receiving your questionnaire my creative juices will be flowing. I will be putting together some ceremony options for you, including readings, potential layouts for the ceremony and renewal rituals. We will have our first big meeting where we take a deep dive into you, your relationship and your wedding.
- I will then spend some time putting together your ceremony script, incorporating all we have discussed in our last meeting.
- In meeting number 3 I will read you the first draft of your script and together we can firm up the details and make any alterations. This script can be tweaked and added to until you are both 100% happy with it over the next few weeks on the lead up to the renewal. I’m on the other end of the phone or an email if you have any questions, ideas or worries about your ceremony.
- If you need help together or individually writing your vows, i’m here for you.
- You may wish to have a rehearsal to ensure smooth running on the day,
- The Big Day!
- I will send you ‘The Step in Time Celebrant’ vow certificate and presentation script to help you to reminisce for years to come.
